India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway to be Completed in 2015

The multi-billion 1,014 mile-long India-Myanmar-Thailand trilateral highway, to be completed by 2015, will boost trade and business between Thailand and India, Indian Ambassador to Thailand Anil Wadhwa said. Speaking on the sidelines of a function to mark the arrival of the 10th international flight of SpiceJet from Bangalore to Bangkok, Wadhwa said under the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation framework, "we have invested $258 million on the highway that falls in our part."

Foreign Workers Say Thailand is Tops

Thailand topped the latest HSBC Expat Explorer survey for best overall expat experience, particularly when it comes to setting up, integrating and finding friends. When it comes to economics, Thailand (No. 4), Indonesia (No. 6) and Singapore (No. 9) ranked among the best places to live for expats. Lower living costs and higher earnings potential, however, made Thailand the most cost-effective place for foreigners.

Thailand Sees 13 Percent Increase in Business Travelers in 2013

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau announced recently that the country had a 13% increase in business travelers in 2013, with more than one million business travelers visiting Thailand. In addition, Bangkok was recently named the most-visited city in the world by the Global Destination Cities Index, an annual list published by MasterCard. Bangkok secured the top spot after hosting nearly 16 million international visitors for at least one night.

Nissan to Begin Producing Altima in Thailand

Nissan said it will begin producing and selling a new model of its latest Teana sedan - called the Altima in the US and Australia - in Thailand as it looks to increase exports from the country. Thailand will become the third manufacturing base after the US and China for the latest Altima. The sedans produced in the US and China are sold locally but Nissan plans to position Thailand as base for exports which will now include Altima-badged models for Australia.

The Thailand Board of Investment has relocated its offices in New York City. The new office space is located at 7 World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan's Financial District. In addition, the Board of Investment has revamped its website to coincide with the move.
