As summer quickly turns into fall in the United States, BOI would like to update you on upcoming events and recent happenings in Thailand.

During August and September, Thailand advanced 19 places to rank 40th globally and first in ASEAN in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Report. This will help the country’s competitiveness during a time when investors increasingly see sustainability performance as relevant to their investment decisions. Thailand’s recent election as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council for the term 2020-2022 demonstrates our country’s strong commitment and active role in advancing social and development agendas on both the national and international fronts.

We’re also pleased to report that the total value of applications received by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) in the first half of 2019 more than doubled to $147.2 billion baht (around USD $4.8 billion), as compared to the same period last year. Out of a total of 468 projects, Japanese companies accounted for 114, worth $42.45 billion baht. Japan has long been the largest source of Thailandย’s FDI.
