On April 19, 2024, H.E. Ambassador Kallayana Vipattipumiprates, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, invited Mr. Nanthapol Sudbanthad, Director of the BOI New York Office, and Ms. Wiwan Srirubsukha, Director of the Thai Trade Centre, Toronto, to engage in an introductory meeting with Mr. Goldy Hyder, President and Mr. Jack Hughes, Vice President of the Business Council of Canada. The Business Council of Canada advocates for economic growth, competitiveness, and prosperity in Canada by representing the interests of chief executives and business leaders across various sectors. The Business Council of Canada has around 150 member companies.

The discussions covered the growing trade and investment opportunities in Thailand, aimed at encouraging Canadian businesses to explore opportunities within the region. Mr. Nanthapol presented the updated policies and incentives of the Thai Government promoted by the BOI, emphasizing their effectiveness in reducing costs and leveraging the advantages of the regional ecosystem and supply chain. He also presented target industries in Canada such as Aerospace, Automotive, Smart Electronics, Digital, and BCGs industries, from which BOI New York aims to attract investment in the country.

Furthermore, the Ambassador extended a warm invitation to all member companies of the Business Council of Canada to visit Thailand within the upcoming year to further explore promising business prospects.

Additionally, Mr. Nanthapol took the opportunity to attend the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show on April 20-21, 2024, at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Quebec. The show was designed to stimulate the North American market's interest in electric vehicles, particularly in light of the impending reduction in subsidies effective January 1, 2025.

At the event, Mr. Nanthapol surveyed booths representing over 23 EV brands, assessing the latest EV technology and models, including charging infrastructure readiness. He also explored U.S. EV brands such as Chevrolet Blazer EV, Chevrolet Equinox EV, Dodge Ram Charger EV, Ford E-Transit, Ford F-150 Lightning, Ford Mach E, and Circuit Electique Charging Station, solidifying connections and gaining additional insights in the evolving EV landscape in Canada and beyond.
